Innovations for the Economic Inclusion of Urban Youth in the COVID-19 Context
Support the development of innovations for the economic inclusion of young informal sector workers in urban areas of Cameroon. With a focus on the COVID-19 context, the Grant aims to contribute to current efforts to improve youths’ income-generating capacity and their resilience to shocks.

The grant supported several activities that informed the design of a youth economic inclusion sub-component of the Adaptive Safety Nets and Economic Inclusion Project (P175363). This includes a feasibility assessment of an innovative targeting system using mobile phone data to identify beneficiaries. Based on the study results, the government is planning to develop a predictive model using telecom data. The team also completed a mapping exercise of digital financial service providers, an analysis of digital savings options, and a market assessment to identify youth entrepreneurship opportunities in five urban areas.
